Sourcing Buyer
Manage procurement activities within an assigned area, ensuring the organization has the materials, supplies, and services needed to support operations. Partner with internal stakeholders and vendors to source products, obtain pricing, evaluate purchasing options, negotiate procurement details, and maintain inventory levels. Identify customer needs, improve purchasing processes, resolve supply-related issues, and support cost-effective procurement strategies.
Responsibilities
- Maintain adequate inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Coordinate procurement activities between user departments and vendors, including researching and obtaining prices/quotes/product information, locating vendors for specialized products, assisting in vendor selection, determining best method of shipment, and resolving discrepancies between purchase orders, receipts, and invoices.
- Assist in the negotiation and maintenance of contracts.
- Monitor processes and services for quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency; engage in process and quality improvement activities.
- Make and implement recommendations to improve operational efficiency and to implement new services for areas of responsibility.
- Perform individual assignments as directed by management.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organization.
- Provide information to senior management on the implications of policies and procedures and recommend specific actions.
- Engage in continuous study of the professional field, including best practices, to maintain competence, knowledge, and skills.
- Complete required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation for activities within areas of responsibility.
- Ensure patients, families, visitors, customers, and employees are treated with kindness and respect; demonstrate teamwork and integrity.

- Participate in ongoing process improvement activities.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree or equivalent in Purchasing or a related business field.
- 2 years of relevant experience in an office environment, preferably in purchasing or a similar atmosphere.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lawson supply chain experience.
- Experience working in an organization of size and complexity comparable to Corewell Health.

Schedule
- Full time, day shift.
- 40 hours per week, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Monday – Friday.
