Sources and Detectors at Submillimeter Wavelengths
About the role
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.
Responsibilities
We develop terahertz instruments working in the 0.1 to 5 THz frequency band for astrophysics, planetary science, and Earth science applications. We provide end-to-end solutions: from device design and fabrication to active and passive circuits, components, subsystems assembly, and instrument integration and test. We design, fabricate, and test frequency multiplied sources, highly sensitive room temperature and cryogenically cooled detectors, various passive and active components, and antennas at submillimeter-wave and terahertz frequencies.
Requirements
- Experience with simulations tools such as HFSS, CST, ADS, and others are needed.
- Hands on experience in the lab with measurement equipment such as Vector Network Analyzer (VNA), power meters, antenna measurement setup, and others are must.
- Clean room experience is also desirable.
