FHC achieves its mission through professional property management and prudent financial management, investing in properties and improvements.
Job Summary
The Head Chef manages the food program at a collegiate sorority house, overseeing the kitchen and its staff to provide balanced meals and a clean dining environment.
Responsibilities
- Create nutritious daily menus and accommodate medical/dietary restrictions
- Prepare daily meals for residents and a regular chapter dinner
- Collaborate with the chapter food committee
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness before and after meals
- Identify, purchase, and maintain kitchen inventory
- Adjust or engineer recipes for allergies and special diets
- Hire and manage kitchen staff
- Work within a budget
- Conduct general maintenance of kitchen appliances
- Pass/comply with kitchen inspections
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Assistant Chef, Kitchen Assistant, Dishwasher (dependent on location)
- Set goals, deadlines, and delegate tasks
- Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training
- Train kitchen staff on relevant topics and reinforce training
- Plan, monitor, and appraise job results

Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Culinary degree preferred
- ServSafe Certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire
Experience
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in culinary management preferred
- 5-10 years of relevant culinary experience
Physical Demands/Work Environment/Travel
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a daily basis
- Work with extremely sharp objects and hot appliances
- Work with hot water and cleaning products
- Read food and cleaning product labels
- Stand for long periods
- Kneel, bend, and reach frequently
- Climb stairs multiple times per day
- Work primarily indoors, sometimes in warm conditions
- Use commercial kitchen equipment and appliances
- Valid driver's license required
