About the Role

The Class Advisor provides leadership, guidance, and supervision to an assigned graduating class, working collaboratively with students, school administration, staff, and parents to plan class activities, promote student leadership, coordinate fundraising, and foster a positive school culture while ensuring all activities comply with Board policy and district procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Promote positive student leadership, responsibility, and school spirit.
  • Advise and mentor class officers in planning and carrying out class activities.
  • Facilitate regular class meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate fundraising activities in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate financial records for class funds and work with appropriate school personnel regarding deposits, expenditures, and purchasing.
  • Assist students in planning and organizing school-sponsored events, including dances, assemblies, service projects, and other class activities.
  • Coordinate planning for senior class activities, including graduation-related events.
  • Ensure all events and activities receive required administrative approval.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administration regarding class activities and expectations.
  • Encourage student participation while promoting inclusiveness and good sportsmanship.
  • Supervise students during approved class activities and events.
  • Assist with fundraising inventory, ticket sales, and event logistics as needed.
  • Model appropriate professional behavior and maintain confidentiality.
  • Comply with Board policies, district procedures, student handbook expectations, and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Perform other duties related to class sponsorship as assigned by the Building Principal.

Qualifications

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to supervise students in a variety of school settings
  • Knowledge of district activity procedures and student fundraising practices preferred

Working Conditions

Work is performed both during and outside the regular school day. Evening and weekend attendance may be required for meetings, events, and student activities. Moderate physical activity associated with event setup and supervision may be required.

Position Type: Student Activities / Certified Staff (Stipend Position)
Location: JR/SR High School
Reports To: Building Principal
Compensation Range: $439-$638

Compensation and length of assignment shall be established by the applicable collective bargaining agreement, Board action, or district stipend schedule. Performance will be evaluated by the Building Principal or designee in accordance with district procedures.
