About the role

Responsible for using imaging equipment and ultrasound to form images of many parts of the body. Trained to acquire and analyze these sonographic images, which are used to help doctors diagnose and treat many medical conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and adjusts all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures.
  • Performs routine and complex studies and assists in a variety of imaging procedures.
  • Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations.
  • Ensures equipment is properly functioning; reports potential problems or malfunctions to appropriate personnel. Locks/tag out equipment if appropriate.
  • Ensures prompt submission of high-quality images and documents to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers, and patient data/history).
  • Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage, and other department areas.
  • Maintains compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or Bachelor’s Degree, with coursework in the sciences and anatomy.
  • Completed a certificate program in diagnostic medical sonography.
  • Must be RDMS certified.

About The Team

Atlantic Health System’s radiology departments provide state-of-the-art imaging services, accommodating a wide range of patient needs with the highest quality and safety. Many locations meet Image Gently® recommendations, “child-sizing” radiation doses for pediatric patients. Our team includes board-certified, fellowship-trained radiologists specializing in breast imaging, cross-sectional imaging, neuroradiology, nuclear medicine, musculoskeletal imaging, pediatric imaging, and interventional radiology. Highly skilled technologists and registered radiology nurses provide additional expertise and support.

Radiology services are available at Chilton, Hackettstown, Morristown, Newton, and Overlook medical centers, Goryeb Children’s Hospital, and various outpatient locations. Services vary by location.
