About the role

Under general supervision and following established procedures, the Ultrasound Tech operates ultrasound imaging equipment to acquire images and communicates sonographer impressions to interpreting physicians. This role requires problem-solving skills, independent judgment to modify scan techniques, and active participation in departmental initiatives. The incumbent must effectively communicate with students, peers, patients, and physicians to ensure safety and quality of imaging.

Responsibilities

• Ensure two points of patient identification (date of birth & full name) to verify correct patient treatment.
• Review exam orders, indications, and patient charts for pertinent clinical history.
• Prepare, clean, and stock equipment and rooms for patient care.
• Use clear communication to explain exams, considering physical and emotional patient needs while maintaining ethical standards.
• Collaborate with leadership to ensure smooth patient flow and optimal utilization of ultrasound scanners.
• Deliver patient care within the scope of license/training.
• Assume on-call, holiday, and shift coverage responsibilities; remain flexible for overtime as needed.
• Perform clinical ultrasound exams and oversee/instruct sonographers, staff, and students on equipment operation, protocols, and technical aspects.
• Participate in research programs, quality assurance, and improvement projects, including research ultrasound exams.
• Provide administrative coverage, serve as PACS superuser, research designee, Quality Control, CPR instructor, Safety Champion, or fulfill other department needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

• Certificate/Diploma in Diagnostic Imaging (Associate's Degree preferred).
• New Hampshire Medical Imaging License.
• Certified Sonographer - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
• BLS certification.
• 2-3 years of ultrasound scanning experience with multiple patient populations.
• Leadership experience (0-1 year preferred).

Skills

Pay

Starting pay rate: $44.00 per hour, increasing with experience. Sign-on bonus of $20,000. Weekend and evening differentials included.

Schedule

Part-time, 30 hours per week. Shift: Saturday, Sunday, Monday, 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM.

Work Location

Onsite at 65 Calef Highway, Lee, NH. May require rotation among the main campus and community radiology locations with appropriate training.
