Sonographer - OBGYN

About the role

The Sonographer operates imaging equipment and software, primarily ultrasound equipment, to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires proficiency in operating imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining high-quality imaging standards. The position also demands a strong commitment to patient care, technical expertise, and collaborative communication with patients and healthcare professionals to provide optimal care.

Responsibilities

• Operate imaging equipment, primarily ultrasound, to produce diagnostic images.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during imaging procedures.
• Maintain high-quality imaging standards and adjust protocols as needed.
• Follow machine emergency procedures and radiation safety protocols.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
• Adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Sonography with completed required clinical hours.
• One (1) year of relevant experience.
• State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.
• Certifications/Registrations: ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI, and 2 applicable advanced registries/certifications within the work area.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• In Arkansas, ARDMS-RVT, CCI-RVS, or ARRT-VS may be required within 12 months of hire or transfer depending on role scope.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
