About the role
This position involves performing high-risk OB ultrasound examinations and procedures under the guidance of physicians. The role includes interpreting patient histories, positioning patients, and producing high-quality sonographic images.
Responsibilities
- Greet and escort patients to examination rooms.
- Evaluate patient histories for high-risk OB patients.
- Operate sonographic equipment and perform diagnostic and advanced fetal Doppler studies.
- Evaluate fetal anatomy and provide preliminary summaries of findings to physicians.
- Assist with invasive procedures and serve as a clinical instructor for sonography students.
- Manage a physically/emotionally demanding work environment, responding to emergencies as needed.
- Maintain ultrasound equipment and supplies, and document patient information accurately.
- Communicate with patients and provide support to clinical staff and providers.
- Support multiple locations and attend meetings and training as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.
- Credentials/Licenses: Valid CPR certification, ARDMS certification, Nuchal Translucency and Nasal Bone Imaging accreditation, and C.L.E.A.R. certification.
- Experience: 1-3 years or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Knowledge: Human anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, professional patient care, and ultrasound practice principles.
- Skills: Proficiency in sonographic equipment operation, mathematical calculations, and computer systems.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of professional patient care and ultrasound practice.
- Ability to operate sonographic equipment and interpret sonograms.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Physical capabilities: Keyboarding, phone work, charting, handling and lifting patients, walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, kneeling, twisting, lifting up to 400 pounds, and interacting with people in various emotional states.
- Environmental expectations: Regular walking, handling patient care equipment, exposure to hazardous materials, and significant interaction with people.
