About the role
The Student Achievement Specialist at A.T. Still University's School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) supports the academic and career advising needs of all students from pre-matriculation through graduation.
Responsibilities
- Support the 4-year academic support and advising program for ATSU-SOMA students.
- Support the 4-year career counseling and advising program for ATSU-SOMA students.
- Track and support students in need of additional academic support or other types of support.
- Counsel students needing improvement in academic or professional performance.
- Develop and deliver DEI-based support and curriculum for ATSU-SOMA students, faculty, and staff.
- Support the resources developed by the Student Achievement Team, including the ATSU SOMA app, SAT website, ProgressIQ for student support and advising, Advisor Handbook, and board preparation materials.
- Participate in the production of the MSPE for graduating students.
- Attend and participate in professional development opportunities on campus and through national conferences.
Requirements
- Masters Degree in Student Services, Education, Counseling, or Related Field.
- Broad knowledge and experience in student services.
- One or two years of experience required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, emailing, and public speaking.
- Organized, collaborative mindset, and professional behavior.
- Show compassion, patience, and approachability.
- Demonstrate success promoting a culturally rich environment that values and appreciates diversity.
- Show common understanding of bias, cultural proficiency, and success at mitigating differences.
- Familiarity with the principles and practice of osteopathic medicine.
