About the Role
Cisco is seeking a Solutions Engineer (SE) with an Enterprise Networking background, Data Center and/or Security. Cloud, Automation, and AI experience is a plus. The SE is a customer-focused technical sales professional who ensures technical information and guidance are provided to the customer, delivering meaningful outcomes based on Cisco’s product and services portfolio.
The SE will partner with Account Managers in a pre-sales technical function, showcasing Cisco solutions, providing customer presentations, performing technical demonstrations, creating Bills of Materials (BoMs), and running proof-of-concept activities. The SE will consult, influence, and design solutions to help customers meet their desired outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Actively contribute to account planning activities to pinpoint growth opportunities and align technical strategies with customer objectives.
- Elevate expertise in Cisco’s portfolio with a broadening knowledge of cross-architectural solutions and domains.
- Partner to drive innovation and lead solution conversations with technical executives.
- Apply a deep understanding of customer business challenges and drive customers toward portfolio solutions.
- Influence strategic priorities for customers and lead cross-architecture designs.
- Examine underlying customer needs and promote cross-architecture solutions.
- Leverage advanced competitive market insights to position and differentiate Cisco solutions.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and external partners to refine strategic alignment and elevate customer relationships.
- Implement adaptation strategies to respond to evolving market conditions and challenges.
Requirements
- 3+ years of industry-related experience.
- Typically requires a BS/BA in Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Science (CS), or relevant experience.
- Cisco product experience or relevant experience in key competitor offerings in the technology area of emphasis is required.
- Knowledge of Cisco’s Solutions and networking fundamentals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Customer intimacy skills.
- Pre-sales experience.
- CCNA/CCNP Enterprise certification.

Pay
The starting salary range for this position is $184,500.00 to $232,800.00 for new hires in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including incentive compensation, equity, or benefits. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location, market conditions, job-related skillset, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and/or training.
For certain locations, the full salary range is listed below:
- New York City Metro Area: $205,500.00 - $298,300.00
- Non-Metro New York State & Washington State: $197,600.00 - $286,900.00
For quota-based sales roles, the ranges provided include base pay and sales target incentive compensation combined.

- Eligibility to earn annual bonuses subject to Cisco’s policies (for non-sales roles).
- For sales roles, employees earn performance-based incentive pay on top of base salary, split between quota and non-quota components.
