About the role
The Solutions Engineer (SE) partners with the Small & Medium Business (SMB) Business Sales team to sell T-Mobile for Business products and services. SEs engage in pre-sales activities, consulting on customer opportunities to understand business challenges and develop tailored solutions. They architect and design solutions using T-Mobile or partner business solutions, equipment, and network, while providing technical support in sales presentations, product demonstrations, and addressing customer inquiries.
SEs support Business Sales by reviewing customer opportunities and sales funnels, keeping teams informed of relevant technologies and industry trends. They consult on technical aspects of T-Mobile for Business products and collaborate with Marketing, Product, Engineering, Sales Ops, and Care teams on feedback, special projects, and market-level opportunities. SEs maintain technical skills and industry expertise through training and certifications.
Wireless Solutions Engineers specifically:
- Understand and present T-Mobile’s wireless network and related key technologies
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of wireless handsets, mobile hotspots, tablets, and key wireless devices
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of wireless-related Value-Added Solutions
- Facilitate wireless network coverage analysis
- Discuss and assist with processing In-Building Coverage requests
- Understand and present product roadmaps and network coverage/build-out plans
- Assist with post-sale support/escalations
- Demonstrate high-level awareness of T-Mobile Global Wireline Solutions network, products, and technologies
Responsibilities
Pre-Sales Activities
- Align to support 2 or more SMB sales teams in-market
- Participate in customer meetings, primarily face-to-face
- Facilitate coverage analysis and review with customers
- Discuss and assist with processing In-Building coverage requests
- Uncover opportunities and recommend solutions
- Design and architect services and solutions
- Close technical hurdles
- Prepare and present technical customer presentations
- Present product roadmaps and network build-out plans
- Demonstrate wireless devices and solutions to customers
- Provide RFP technical input
- Strategize with Sales team to improve Regional sales
- Participate in account reviews with customers
- Own customer technical relationships
- Support customer pilots
- Provide Subject Matter Expertise in at least one area of focus (SDWAN/Edge, Security, Mobile Internet/Routers, etc.)
Technical Focus
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending training in assigned areas
- Maintain adequate level of industry expertise
- Pursue industry certification appropriate to role
- Develop expertise in T-Mobile wireless network and related key technologies
- Develop expertise in wireless handsets, mobile hotspots, tablets, and key wireless devices
- Develop expertise in wireless-related Value-Added Solutions
- High-level understanding of T-Mobile Global Wireline Solutions network, products, and technologies
Post-Sales Activities
- Ensure a positive customer experience
- Assist with high-level support and troubleshooting
- Open tickets and engage appropriate support resources
- Train Sales on technical topics, product updates, and Tech Talks
- Conduct customer trainings and product/network/marketing road-show webinars
- Provide training and mentoring to Associate SEs as required
- Responsible for other duties/projects as assigned by business management
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM area strongly preferred)
- 4-7 years of experience in telecommunications, IT administration, or network engineering roles with a track record of successful solution sales and managing relationships in a matrix environment
- Experience supporting Small and Medium Business accounts
- Technical leadership and project management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication; strong interpersonal skills
- Sales experience with Sales Methodologies
- Proficiency with business application software
- Strategic leadership ability to provide direction in a leadership role
- Ability to create and deliver technical presentations
- Subject Matter Expertise in at least one area of focus (SDWAN/Edge, Security, Mobile Internet/Routers, etc.)
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Pay
Total Target Cash Pay Range: $112,500 - $202,900, inclusive of target incentives
Base Pay Range: $78,750 - $142,030
Actual pay will be based on work location, qualifications, and experience. Employees in regular, non-temporary Retail and Business Sales roles are eligible for monthly or quarterly sales incentives.
