Solutions Architect & Technical Capture Lead

About the role

V2X is seeking a Solutions Architect to lead the development of technical solutions, system architectures, and comprehensive technical proposal volumes for competitive Department of Defense (DoD) pursuits. This role serves as the bridge between capture strategy and engineering execution, ensuring proposals are technically compelling and aligned with customer requirements. You will synthesize DoD requirements, Broad Agency Announcements (BAAs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and other inputs to develop solution architectures that align V2X’s business capabilities with planned technology development efforts. The position drives both technical and business solution development to shape and respond to future RFIs and Requests for Proposals (RFPs), requiring leadership over multi-discipline engineering teams and integration across all aspects of the V2X business.

Responsibilities

• Define and articulate technically discriminating solution architectures and high-impact win themes for major DoD acquisitions.
• Develop and maintain system models (SysML/MBSE) to validate architectures and support trade-space analysis in capture scenarios.
• Translate disparate DoD inputs (BAAs, RFIs, requirements documents) into cohesive, end-to-end system architectures that align technology roadmaps with V2X’s development plans.
• Lead technical solution development for competitive pursuits—craft architecture diagrams, interface specifications, and technical standards, then champion them through proposal and design reviews.
• Identify technical risks early, propose mitigation plans, and guide teams through tough trade-space decisions.
• Author and integrate the Technical Volume, ensuring seamless alignment with Cost, Management, and Schedule sections.
• Partner with Business Development and the Chief Engineer to align capture strategy, shape white papers, and influence pursuit decisions.
• Engage directly with DoD acquisition and requirements officers to refine roadmaps, mature tactical system needs, and ensure architectures meet real-world mission demands.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and integration engineers to drive system design, validate interoperability, and oversee verification & validation activities.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend components, tools, and frameworks that accelerate development and boost performance.
• Build and nurture relationships with customers, teammates, and suppliers to uncover new opportunities and drive continuous innovation.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance.
• 15+ years of systems, software, or hardware engineering experience, delivering complex solutions from concept through deployment.
• Proven track record partnering with DoD requirements officers and system owners to shape technical visions and refine mission needs.
• Deep understanding and application of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods, tools, and languages.
• Familiarity with DoD data interfaces, including MIL-STD-1553, ARINC, CAN, and other vehicle/weapon-specific protocols.
• Analytical mindset and inventive problem-solving skills for tackling complex technical challenges.
• Experience with DoD platforms, weapons, avionics, or tactical systems across land, air, and sea domains.
• Extensive capture management experience: interpreting RFPs/SOWs, developing Basis of Estimates (BOEs), authoring technical volumes, and driving high-value proposal efforts.
• Strong communication skills, adept at engaging stakeholders from technical teams to senior leadership and military customers.
• Demonstrated leadership guiding cross-functional teams through capture, proposal, and early program execution phases.
• Ability to lead Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality disciplines.
• Self-driven and accountable, consistently delivering high-quality work on schedule and autonomously solving complex challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related STEM discipline.

Desired qualifications include:

• Experience conducting competitive assessments, technical price-to-win analyses, and win-strategy development.
• Demonstrated leadership of multi-discipline teams through capture, proposal, and early program execution phases.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, translating complex technical concepts into compelling narratives.
• Prior work with DoD customers (U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, USMC, and/or USAF) on acquisition or sustainment programs.
• External certifications as a Solution Architect and/or Technical Capture Lead (e.g., The Open Group, Shipley, PMI).
• Current Active DoD Secret or higher clearance.
