Solutions Architect 4 (Oracle Solutions Architect)

About the role

The Solutions Architect serves as principal architect of large and complex hardware, software, database, networking, and/or telecommunication solutions at Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM. This role determines Laboratory-wide requirements and incorporates them into solutions that may be commercial-off-the-shelf (Oracle P6, PIF, WebLogic) or internally developed software and hardware. Responsibilities may include project management, oversight of documentation, marketing, training, budget, schedules, resource utilization, and benefits realization for complex solutions projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop advanced concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional principles and theories.
• Work on unusually significant, unique, or complex issues, providing highly creative solutions where analysis requires evaluation of intangibles.
• Research, assemble, and evaluate information or data regarding industry practices or regulatory changes affecting telecommunication, data management, security, networking, hardware, software development, and systems programming; recommend practical solutions.
• Lead complex projects requiring in-depth analysis, customer requirements gathering, and cross-discipline solution sets.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for complex systems, integrating strategic thinking to ensure long-term business objectives are met.
• Formally manage projects from inception through implementation, including project management, documentation, and training of users, system administrators, or others.
• Foster a mutually respectful and inclusive work environment free from discrimination and harassment.
• Ensure safety and security compliance, including required training and integrating safety into all tasks.
• Research solutions for complex problems spanning multiple disciplines, including hardware, software, data management, security, networking, and telecommunications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and 12 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Post-graduate coursework and/or professional certification(s) may be expected.
• Expert knowledge of current and future network, data management, security, hardware, software development, and systems programming technologies.
• Demonstrated experience in architecting complex solutions and enterprise web application delivery.
• Expert knowledge in SQL Server and Oracle RDBMS implementation, administration, maintenance, and end-user support.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle WebLogic for web applications.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management.
• Expert-level knowledge of Oracle Project Integration Framework (PIF).
• Experience maintaining environments for integration of project controls: estimating, schedules, and costs.
• U.S. Citizenship (required for federal background investigation and DOE Q security clearance).
• Ability to pass federal background investigation, health & safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing (marijuana use prohibited under federal contract rules).
• Ability to work in a diverse environment and promote L&A core values.
