Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of long-range Westvaco and Granger solution mining plans.
- Collect and analyze mine water and solution mining data and prepare monthly Granger and Westvaco tailings and mine water reports.
- Primary Process Engineering Team representative on Westvaco muds team and Granger mine water team.
- Provide oversight of solution mining pilot(s).
- Design, plan, oversee, and execute tailings, solution mining, groundwater, exploration (coring) and all types of well drilling projects.
- Maintain records for cores, well drilling, and wellfield layouts.
- Select and manage consulting and drilling resources.
- Cookordination record keeping with Environmental, Project Engineering, and Mine Engineering groups to ensure records meet regulatory and project documentation requirements.
- Oversee wellfield mechanical integrity program and reporting.
- Responsible for process engineering improvement projects in the plant facilities and/or the wellfields.
- Demonstrates strong field presence by conducting audits for compliance, safety, and housekeeping standards.
- Leads mine water, tailings, and solution mining planning.
- Performs wellfield performance data monitoring, trending, and analysis.
- Performs management of change (MOC) for mine water injection/extraction activities.
- Aids Mine Engineers with underground well planning and execution.
- Cooksordination with Project Managers to execute projects.
- Serves as the solution mining subject matter expert (SME) on exploration, quantification, and mapping.
- Manages company logging trailer/equipment.
- Performs cost estimating for wellfield projects.
- Leads safety and hazard reviews.
- Mentors technical resources in both technology and plant departments to grow their site knowledge and technical skills, especially in mine water/solution mining/tailings operations and well drilling.
- Participates in surface well drilling project management, including cost control.
- Ensures projects comply with appropriate regulatory requirements.
- Participates in technical improvement projects in the plant facilities and/or the wellfield.
Skills
- B.S. in Engineering (Chemical, Petroleum, or Metallurgical)
- 2 + years of experience in a large-scale industrial environment or closely related field.
- Drilling experience preferred
Requirements
- Preferred degree in Petroleum Engineering
