About the role
The Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works, Bureau of Waste Management Services, seeks a Landfill Supervisor to manage daily landfill operations and customer service standards.
Responsibilities
- Affordably manage landfill operations, including brush grinding, in compliance with regulations, permits, and engineering drawings.
- Supervise up to fifteen (15) employees, setting schedules, providing direction, conducting safety meetings, reviewing time and leave requests, mentoring, training, evaluating, and counseling.
- Foster a collaborative, safety-focused workplace, addressing operational issues, resolving employee grievances, and developing solutions to improve teamwork and efficiency.
- Maintain environmental control systems, ensuring proper operation of heavy equipment, and overseeing contractor activities.
- Oversee construction projects, including grading and construction management, and enforce regulations and resolve customer complaints.
- Respond to emergencies and call-outs, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.
Requirements
- Two (2) or more years experience in planning and supervising solid waste management services in collection, landfill, disposal, recycling operations, or a related field.
- A valid non-commercial Class C motor vehicle operator's License.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduation from high school.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with landfill operations, construction projects, and solid waste management regulations.
- Skills: Strong supervisory and customer service skills, effective communication, and proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Suite.
