Landfill Operations Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

• Communicate/Coordinate with management, engineers and vendors to identify and resolve plant operational issues.
• Diagnose operational difficulties with the Gas Collection System and Gas Treatment Equipment and notify plant equipment repair vendor immediately
• a. Serve as principal liaison with plant equipment repair vendor to facilitate speedy repair to any needed equipment
• b. Monitor the collection field for proper concentration levels
• c. Complete necessary repairs to the collection system
• d. PM and repair gas conditioning equipment
• Aid vendors with trouble shooting and operation of the Power Generation Equipment.
• a. Operational knowledge of Generator Switchgear
• b. Assist in Generator repairs as needed
• Complete reports, environmental agency records, order parts and perform other administrative duties as required.
• a. Gas collection field data
• b. Start-up, Shut down & Maintenance logs
• c. Daily Plant Operational condition logs
• d. Calibrate and log monitoring equipment
• Aid in the review of mechanical write-ups on equipment and coordinate repair schedule.
• Interview, hire, train, develop and evaluate gas plant personnel as required to meet service commitments
• a. Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with all safety regulations.
• b. Ensure fair treatment and practice progressive discipline with all employee performance issues.
• Must be available for On-Call response to system emergencies
• Conform in all respects with applicable laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors.
• Aid in the training and orientation of new employees.
• Maintain a working knowledge of and keep up with the latest technology through the use of technical manuals and the attendance of technical training seminars and testing.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Two (2) years diesel mechanic experience (or related mechanical, electrical or industrial field) is required
• Two (2) years supervisory experience required
• Knowledge, experience and ability to repair and maintain tools, equipment and machinery required
• Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety sensitive functions according to Company standards

• Ability to understand and effectively use repair and parts manuals written in English
• Ability to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job
• Possess physical ability to perform all aspects of job.

Physical/Mental Demands

• Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, taste, and smell.
• Continuous concentrated mental and visual attention required.
• Visual Requirements: include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Frequent physical effort including handling tools and equipment required.
• Frequently lift/push/pull up to 100 pounds

Working Conditions

• Frequently exposed to loud noise, humidity, hot and cold weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes and airborne particles
• Work environment is usually loud.
• Will be required to be on call nights and weekends
