Solid Waste Equipment Operator I/II (Underfill Opportunity)

About the role

Performs manual labor and operates large sanitation truck picking up bulk items, brush and other debris on a sanitation route and/or repair and place refuse and recycling containers.

Responsibilities

• Operates a large sanitation truck picking up brush and other uncontained debris on a solid waste route.
• Assists and directs assigned co-workers in loading material into truck.
• Provides quality control by cleaning alleys and streets after brush is collected.
• Assists citizens and customers with service issues and concerns as needed.
• Completes CDL pre-flight safety inspection on vehicles at the beginning and end of the workday.
• Trains Equipment Operator I on operation of equipment and assigned routes.

Requirements

• Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted Arizona driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date.
• Must possess within 12 months from hire a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no air brake restriction.
• Must be willing to obtain a Class A CDL with no air brake restriction.
• Must be willing to undergo unannounced alcohol and drug testing as required by law.
• Must reside in the State of Arizona during active employment.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience operating sanitation, heavy truck, and/or construction equipment.
• Manual labor experience or experience operating a heavy truck and/or construction equipment.

Skills

• Ability to operate large sanitation trucks.
• Experience with heavy equipment and sanitation operations.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis.

Pay

Salary range: $25.16/hour - $33.99/hour ($29.55/hour midpoint)

Schedule

Full-time position with potential for overtime, holidays, weekends, and special events.
