What You Will Be Doing
- Aid in teaching solar and clean energy workshops and labs
- Attend local events to promote community awareness of GRID’s training programs
- Aid in recruiting and selecting trainees, and follow up if needed
- Aid in trainee installation days
- Support in the creation and documentation of required documents (ex. DAC-SASH projects, IREC Accreditation)
- Participate in solar installations
Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise
- To be eligible for AmeriCorps, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent resident alien of the United States.
- Must be 18 years or older
- Excellent communication skills and ability to represent GRID Alternatives positively
- Comfortable being part of a team
- Able to safely lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to work outdoors, on rooftops, and in extreme temperatures
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and decision-making skills
- Interest and enthusiasm for renewable energy, community development, and helping families and communities in need
- Availability for an in-person Mid-Year weeklong Career Readiness Retreat in California
Compensation and Benefits
- AmeriCorps Fellowship: Stipend pay of $40,800 over 11 months (Approx $21.40/hr) + Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $10,000 upon successful completion of fellowship
- Standard Fellowship: Hourly pay of $21.40 per hour, plus the benefits listed above
- Completion of 1700 hours with GRID and completing the contracted term of service for both fellowships grants eligibility for an end of term award of $3,000
Where You Will Sit & the Places You May Go
- The ideal candidate will sit in Los Angeles, CA
- This position may require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects such as org-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc.
- Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required
