SolarCorps Workforce Technical Training Fellow

Summary Of The Role

We are seeking a full-time SolarCorps Workforce Technical Training Fellow to engage with the workforce team to support GRID’s workforce development initiatives. Members are trained and supervised by GRID's workforce development team to provide employability skills and job opportunities in solar to the community. Members will support GRID’s solar job training programs through supporting the technical training team in teaching the solar training curriculum in classrooms, labs, and project job sites, and supporting the Workforce Development coordinators/admin with recruitment efforts and placement support.

What You Will Be Doing

• Aid in teaching solar and clean energy workshops and labs
• Attend local events to promote community awareness of GRID’s training programs
• Aid in trainee installation days
• Participate in solar installations

Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise

• To be eligible for AmeriCorps, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent resident alien of the United States.
• Must be 18 years or older
• 11-month commitment
• Excellent communication skills and ability to represent GRID Alternatives positively
• Comfortable being part of a team
• Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and decision-making skills
• Interest and enthusiasm for renewable energy, community development, and helping families and communities in need
• Availability for an in-person Mid-Year weeklong Career Readiness Retreat in California

Compensation and Benefits

• This is a full-time position with a stipend pay of $40,800 over 11 months (Approx $21.40/hr).
• Members who complete 1700 hours of service with GRID and complete their contracted term of service will be eligible for the Segal Americorps Education Award of $10,000 upon successful completion of fellowship.
