Job Summary
The Solar Support Technician will be responsible for connectivity of existing photovoltaic arrays to power-driven devices and provide load profile recommendations. The candidate should have a background in photovoltaic installation, electrical grid interconnection and experience in reading & interpreting Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) records.
Major Duties
- Photovoltaic installation & electrical connectivity
- Understanding of Utility grid interconnectivity
- Monitor photovoltaic system for performance issues
- Ability to assess SCADA monitoring & data collection
- Diagnose and repair photovoltaic system malfunctions
- Aid with reporting on project activities (virtual)
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Frequent reaching/operating with hands and arms
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 40 pounds (with assistance)
- Must be comfortable working around high-voltage systems
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Frequent standing or sitting for extended periods
- Lifting objects on occasion
- Working outdoors (under shed) in various climates, hot and cold - occasionally
Minimum Qualifications
- Technical training in electrical technology, renewable energy systems and industrial maintenance
- Understanding of AC/DC power systems and high voltage systems
- Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Ability to use testing tools (e.g. multimeters)
Preferred Qualifications
- NABCEP certification (e.g., PV Installation Professional)
- State Electrical License
