Job Summary

The Solar Support Technician will be responsible for connectivity of existing photovoltaic arrays to power-driven devices and provide load profile recommendations. The candidate should have a background in photovoltaic installation, electrical grid interconnection and experience in reading & interpreting Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) records.

Major Duties

  • Photovoltaic installation & electrical connectivity
  • Understanding of Utility grid interconnectivity
  • Monitor photovoltaic system for performance issues
  • Ability to assess SCADA monitoring & data collection
  • Diagnose and repair photovoltaic system malfunctions
  • Aid with reporting on project activities (virtual)
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Frequent reaching/operating with hands and arms
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 40 pounds (with assistance)
  • Must be comfortable working around high-voltage systems
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Frequent standing or sitting for extended periods
  • Lifting objects on occasion
  • Working outdoors (under shed) in various climates, hot and cold - occasionally

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technical training in electrical technology, renewable energy systems and industrial maintenance
  • Understanding of AC/DC power systems and high voltage systems
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Ability to use testing tools (e.g. multimeters)

Preferred Qualifications

  • NABCEP certification (e.g., PV Installation Professional)
  • State Electrical License
