Solar Field Commissioning Manager
About the role
We're looking for a Solar Field Commissioning Manager on behalf of our client. This is a 1-year contract assignment. It is a W-2 position. Your primary roles are to oversee subcontractors and OEMs' installation. The manager will also be responsible for quality, plant testing, performance testing, ISO/GIA/PPA testing, and startup of solar PV power systems. You will be the Owner's representative. Your responsibilities will include overseeing aspects of the solar facility, such as site work, installation, status reporting, safety, quality control, startup, commissioning, testing, and project close out.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in safety program and audits
- Perform detailed system quality control inspections for completeness of installation vs. install manuals, engineering specifications and drawings and maintain detailed punch-list
- Perform system walkdowns for mechanical complete prior to turnover or energization
- Help commission anomalies as the primary SME owner's representative
- Report daily, weekly, and monthly on progress, indicators, and recovery plans to upper management
- Substation testing third party management and Substation energization
- Metering testing and ISO/GIA/PPA commissioning process management
- Schedule and lead understanding meetings leading up to, and during performance testing periods, to ensure you align all required support parties and execute the test
Qualifications
- Utility-scale solar PV installation and startup (PV modules, DC collection, combiner boxes, and inverters)
- Must understand the technical performance and integration of PV inverters, DC collection, MV collection, and plant controls/SCADA
- Commissioning process creation and Substation testing and startup
- Protection and Controls implementation and troubleshooting
- Understanding of solar PV balance-of-plant components (combiner boxes, DC feeders, inverter stations, step-up transformers, MV collection, plant controller, and SCADA)
- Can quality control inspections and punch-list management
- Experience with DC systems (0-2,000Vdc) and AC systems (480V-34.5kV)
- Familiarity to troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLC) and industrial electronic equipment (protection relays, inverters, plant controllers, revenue meters)
- Experience with plant control and SCADA systems (inverter communications, PPC/plant controller, and data historian) and troubleshooting

Pay
The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be ($74.00/hr. to $79.00/hr.).
