Solar Design Engineer
About the Role
Ulteig is seeking talented and motivated Solar Design Engineers to support the design of utility-scale solar projects nationwide. This role will be a strategic contributor to the growth of our Renewables Lifeline Sector®. Qualified candidates may work remotely from any location in the U.S. or choose to work from any of Ulteig’s existing office locations.
Responsibilities
- Work with internal multi-disciplinary teams and clients to develop Solar PV design/construction packages, including solar array layouts, electrical one-lines, collection systems, collection system studies, and equipment installation details for Utility-Scale Solar PV systems (50-500MW+).
- Turn initial high-level designs into optimized designs ready for construction.
- Leverage internal tools and external software to aid in the design process.
- Contribute to the continual development of internal solar engineering standards, toolsets, and work processes.
- Participate in site visits and conferences to meet client requests and strengthen relationships.
- Support development of early-stage projects with conceptual designs and material take-offs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program.
- EIT preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the solar industry.
- Experience with various solar design software programs (CYMCAP, PVFARM, SAM, PVsyst, etc.).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with estimating or designing electrical systems is mandatory.
- Knowledge of photovoltaic systems, NEC requirements, and construction practices is strongly preferred.
- Ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies due to the dynamic nature of the renewable energy market.
- Must have the ability to work permanently in the U.S.

Pay
Target base compensation range for this role is $93,800 - $126,900. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include job-specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role, and comparison to other employees already in this role.
