About the role

AES Clean Energy (AES CE) is seeking a seasoned Solar Technician to play a pivotal role in operating our renewable energy portfolio to standards that exceed industry best practices. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to build, train, and lead other field personnel. As AES CE grows to become one of the leading Independent Power Producers (IPPs) in the industry, this role offers unparalleled opportunities for professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned O&M activities for utility-scale Solar Energy Plants located in California's Central Valley and Kern County.
  • Conduct corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance for equipment including:
    • Power Electronics HEC
    • Power Electronics HEC 1500V
    • Power Electronics HEM
    • AE 1000NX
    • AE 500NX
    • Eaton XPert 1670
    • Ingecon Sun 1110TL U B400
    • SMA 750CP
    • SMA SC2200-2750
    • DC Combiner boxes
    • ATI Trackers V2, V2.5, V3
    • NexTracker Tracker
    • First Solar Tracker
    • High, Medium, Low voltage Switching
  • Perform other technical and administrative duties associated with operating and maintaining a power facility.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with Environmental and Safety requirements.
  • Perform work independently and/or in work crews.

Requirements

  • Possess a 2-year technical degree or equivalent Journeyman qualifications.
  • Three (3) or more years’ experience as a PV O&M solar technician or five (5) or more years’ experience in a power plant and one (1) or more years’ experience in PV Solar O&M or construction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (single craft journeyman skills), such as electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid-state theory application.
  • Basic knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and associated control devices installed in power facilities.

  • Experience with electrical/construction projects and knowledge of basic IT equipment.

Working Conditions

  • Work outside in normal plant and/or office environments, including heights, extreme temperatures, and humidity.
  • Physical requirements: standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment for inspections or data collection.
  • Use of personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hats, appropriate footwear, earplugs, etc.).
  • Work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals.
  • Occasional lifting as required.
  • Work overtime and non-standard hours as needed.
  • Travel to sites outside the typical area.

Pay

Expected salary for this position is between $35.00 and $42.08 per hour at commencement of employment. Base pay may vary depending on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package includes an annual bonus.
