About the role
AES Clean Energy (AES CE) is seeking a seasoned Solar Technician to play a pivotal role in operating our renewable energy portfolio to standards that exceed industry best practices. This individual will be a self-starter, capable of building, training, and leading other field personnel. As AES CE grows into a leading independent power producer (IPP), this role offers unparalleled opportunities for professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Perform assigned O&M activities for utility-scale Solar Energy Plants in California's Central Valley and Kern County.
- Conduct corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance for equipment including:
- Power Electronics HEC and HEC 1500V
- Power Electronics HEM and AE 1000NX
- AE 500NX
- Eaton XPert 1670
- Ingecon Sun 1110TL U B400
- SMA 750CP and SC2200-2750
- DC Combiner boxes
- ATI Trackers V2, V2.5, V3
- NexTracker and First Solar Trackers
- High, Medium, and Low voltage Switching
- Perform other technical and administrative duties associated with operating and maintaining a power facility.
- Ensure work complies with Environmental and Safety requirements.
- Work independently or as part of a crew.
Requirements
- 2-year technical degree or equivalent Journeyman qualifications.
- Three or more years’ experience as a PV O&M solar technician or five or more years’ experience in a power plant with at least one year in PV Solar O&M or construction.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (e.g., electrical measurements, control circuits, solid-state theory).
- Basic understanding of operational characteristics of power facility equipment and associated control devices.

Working Conditions
- Work performed outdoors in normal plant and/or office environments, including heights, extreme temperatures, and humidity.
- Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs/ladders, and entering plant equipment for inspections or data collection.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, safety glasses, hard hats, appropriate footwear, and earplugs.
- Exposure to rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals.
- Occasional lifting as required.
- Ability to work overtime and non-standard hours as needed.
- Travel to sites outside the typical area may be required.
Pay
Expected salary for this position is between $35.00 and $42.08 per hour at commencement of employment. Base pay may vary depending on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package includes an annual bonus.
