Software Licensing Specialist

This role is responsible for the internal software licensing needs of the company, developing and maintaining the company’s software licensing portal and processes to ensure accurate usage rates, license maintenance across various renewal dates and platforms, analysis of new software requests, and timely bill payments according to appropriate license levels.

Responsibilities

  • Use the company’s software licensing management tools to support a corporate strategy for systematically tracking, evaluating, and managing software licenses to ensure compliance and proper spending.
  • Manage both internal and external software licensing relationships, including direct vendor relationships, internal account teams, and indirect relationships with distributors and partners.
  • Collaborate with internal departments—including Accounting, Internal IT, Legal, and Executive Management—to support company goals and initiatives related to software licensing and vendor/partner relationships.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for the purchasing and/or audit processes for software offerings and platforms.
  • Assist the Inventory Control team in other asset allocation or return processes as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed while sitting/standing and interfacing with a personal computer.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires occasional bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Requires the ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 50lbs.

Remote Work Qualifications

  • Access to a reliable and secure high-speed internet connection (cable or fiber preferred, at least 75mbps download/10mbps upload).
  • Access to a home router and modem.
  • A dedicated home office space that is noise- and distraction-free, with a strong wireless connection or wired Ethernet connection (wired preferred).
  • A valid, physical address (no PO Boxes).
  • Ability to work and communicate with other team members via chat, webcam, etc.
  • Legal residency in one of the following states: AK, AL, AR, AZ, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WI, WV, or WY.

H-1B Visa Sponsorship is not available; W2 employment only.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in Software License Tracking & Purchasing.
  • Experience working in a distribution environment preferred.

Skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical and complex concepts in a simple and concise way.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to quickly adapt as business needs change; ability to address difficult situations with diplomacy and emotional intelligence.
  • Customer service-oriented attitude with a demonstrated desire to exceed expectations.
