Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver cloud-based SaaS Quality Management System (QMS) features for regulated customers.
- Translate product and regulatory requirements into secure, scalable, fault-tolerant solutions in compliance with internal QMS procedures, Good Documentation Practice (GDP), and applicable standards (including cGMP, ISO, and FDA requirements).
- Design, develop, and maintain Java-based application features and RESTful APIs, including service-layer components, object-oriented implementations, data-access logic, and system integrations.
- Own end-to-end delivery from requirements analysis through development, testing, documentation, production deployment, and post-release support.
- Design and implement system architecture, including multi-tenancy controls, tenant isolation, configuration frameworks, upgrade strategies, document lifecycle management, reporting and training modules, workflow tools, API extensibility, and related platform components.
- Design and optimize relational database schemas, indexing, and query performance to support scalability and high availability.
- Support regulatory and quality-event workflows, including technical investigation, documentation, and electronic reporting processes (e.g., eMDR, MedWatch), as applicable.
- Contribute to cloud-native initiatives, including microservices, containerization, resilient service communication, zero-downtime deployments, infrastructure automation (IaC), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitor and resolve complex production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Telecommuting is an option for this position.
Qualifications
Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
Must have five (5) years of experience in software development, which included experience with the following:
- MySQL; Microsoft SQL Server; Oracle database syntax; SQL dialect conversion; and cross-platform database migration projects among those platforms.
- SQLines and JSQLParser for SQL parsing, translation, database conversion, and migration tooling development.
- Cloud platforms and services, including Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Terraform and Terragrunt for infrastructure automation, provisioning, and environment configuration management.
- Delivering features in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments, including adherence to Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and Good Documentation Practice (GDP).
- Quality and compliance requirements such as ISO-aligned processes and FDA-related expectations, supporting complaint-handling workflows, including eMDR/MedWatch reporting.
- CI/CD pipelines, source control, and agile delivery tooling, including Git, Bitbucket Pipelines/Jenkins, and JIRA/Confluence.
- Diagnosing production issues using logging and monitoring tools.
This position also requires demonstrated knowledge and experience with:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise applications using Java, including RESTful APIs and object-oriented design patterns.
- Database design and SQL development, including schema design, query optimization, and data-access layers (DAO).
- Developing multi-tenant SaaS capabilities, including tenant isolation, configuration and settings tiers, caching strategies, and scalable architectures.
- Migrating legacy monolithic database-backed enterprise applications to multi-tenant SaaS platforms, including designing, developing, and maintaining vendor-neutral migration tools and frameworks to support schema conversion, SQL translation, data transformation, and tenant onboarding.
Such skills may be gained concurrently through work experience or education.
