COO Tech provides technology solutions and support for all Operational needs and Stakeholder Relations business lines. This role leads the Home Lending Servicing Customer communication domains and Line release related applications, scaling across four or more scrum teams while communicating effectively with business and executive leadership.
Responsibilities
- Manage, coach, and develop teams of experienced engineers and engineering managers in roles with moderate complexity and risk, building high-quality capabilities with modern technology.
- Ensure adherence to Banking Platform Architecture and meet non-functional requirements with each release.
- Partner with architects and engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology strategies, understanding next-generation domain architecture (e.g., cloud readiness, application modernization, data strategy).
- Serve as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaboration and planning.
- Identify and recommend solutions for technology roadblocks (code, build, deployment) while managing the software development cycle and security standards.
- Act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and teams to meet moderate- to high-risk deliverables, removing impediments and fostering continual improvement.
- Build engineering skills in the codebase, conduct peer reviews, and guide design to ensure quality and alignment with technical direction.
- Interpret, develop, and ensure security, stability, and scalability within technology functions, managing enterprise risk.
- Collaborate with Product Managers/Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence requirements, and advocate for agile and DevOps practices.
- Interact directly with third-party vendors and technology service providers.
- Manage allocation of people and financial resources to meet commitments and align with strategic objectives.
- Hire, build, and guide a culture of talent development to design and deliver innovative solutions for business objectives.
Requirements
- 7+ years of Software Engineering experience (or equivalent through work, training, military, or education).
- 3+ years of management or leadership experience.
- 3+ years working in large enterprise environments.
- 3+ years of Agile experience.
- 3+ years managing geographically diverse teams across multiple locations.
- 3+ years of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- 1+ years of experience using AI tools to deliver business value.
- 1+ years of Agentic AI: Designing and deploying LLM-powered agents for multi-step workflows (APIs, internal services, data stores) with human-in-the-loop controls, error handling, and monitoring within secure enterprise architectures.
Qualifications
- Experience with customer communications tech stack (e.g., letters management lifecycle, template creation, reconciliations).
- Experience with case management and workflow tech stack.
- Experience working with vendors and managing vendor solutions.
- Broad understanding of IT infrastructure, databases, application development, and cloud-based service topology.
- Knowledge of the financial services industry.
- Ability to manage large or multiple technology development efforts within a major line of business.
- Experience working with IT Governance, Controls, and Risk partners.
- Ability to drive efficiencies and innovation while managing resources.
- Knowledge of SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) principles.
- Ability to manage complex projects requiring cross-functional participation.
