About the role

The Software Engineering Manager will lead the EKS compute teams responsible for EKS Auto and EKS Hybrid. The team manages Kubernetes worker nodes and their lifecycle, ensuring the safety and stability of the software they operate. They also integrate with other AWS services to provide simple and streamlined interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own core services for EKS products including EKS Auto and EKS Hybrid
  • Manage Kubernetes worker nodes and their lifecycle
  • Ensure the safety and stability of the software operated by the team
  • Integrate with other AWS services with an eye towards simple and streamlined interfaces
  • Own staffing and managing the engineering team
  • Set the team culture, best practices, and organizational planning
  • Drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong team

Requirements

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services
  • Experience in engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle
  • Experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems
  • Experience in defining and developing multi-tier web services
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers
