About the Role
GDIT is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our team of building scalable, maintainable and high-performance applications. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing application frontend and/or backend framework and technologies. You will work closely with our development team to build reusable UI components, optimize UI performance and ensure accessibility.
Responsibilities
- Bring your technology expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT.
- Develop web or client/server applications using Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Upgrade older versions of Spring Boot and Hibernate/JPA to more current releases.
- Work with modern frontend frameworks such as Vue, React, or Angular.
- Design and implement database schemas and write SQL queries (Oracle experience is a plus).
- Use Git-based version control tools (GitHub, GitLab, etc.).
- Build RESTful APIs and backend services in an Agile development environment.
- Plan and coordinate technical activities and contribute to both short- and long-term solution roadmaps.
- Evaluate new technologies and understand how upcoming changes may impact existing systems.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure technical solutions are integrated effectively and delivered on schedule.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
- Experience: 15+ years.
- Required skills: Hands-on experience developing web or client/server applications using Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML, and CSS; practical experience with Spring Boot and Hibernate/JPA; comfort upgrading older versions of Spring Boot and Hibernate/JPA to more current releases; experience working with modern frontend frameworks such as Vue, React, or Angular; strong skills in database design and writing SQL (Oracle experience is a plus); familiarity with Git-based version control tools (GitHub, GitLab, etc.); experience building RESTful APIs and backend services; previous work in an Agile development environment; ability to plan and coordinate technical activities and contribute to both short- and long-term solution roadmaps; ability to evaluate new technologies and understand how upcoming changes may impact existing systems; knack for evaluating new technologies and understanding how upcoming changes may impact existing systems; ability to work independently and take ownership of new and ongoing initiatives; experience collaborating across teams to ensure technical solutions are integrated effectively and delivered on schedule.

Pay
The likely salary range for this position is $187,179 - $250,371. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
