About the role

GCI delivers unique, high-value mission solutions in Data Analytics, Software Development, Engineering, Targeting and Analysis, Operations, Training, and Cyber Operations. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain a processing platform while collaborating with a team to advance organizational capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop a processing platform using various configuration management technologies.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements for existing systems and platforms.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems and provide customer support for software systems and application issues.
  • Recommend improvements for continuous enhancement of systems and processes.
  • Work alongside other engineers to sustain and advance organizational capabilities.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with modern programming languages including Python or JavaScript.
  • Experience with JIRA, Redmine, or other development environment task managers/trackers.
  • Experience building and implementing systems that support both custom and off-the-shelf hardware features.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following tools/technologies:
    • Building APIs and services using REST, Hadoop, MapReduce, or Spark.
    • Build automation technologies like Maven or Jenkins.
    • Linux (preferred) or Windows operating systems.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
  • 5 to 10 years of related software engineering experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active/current Secret clearance; willingness to upgrade to a TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance (GCI will sponsor).

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience designing and developing modern, web-based user interfaces and applications, including APIs that interface with hardware devices.
  • Understanding or exposure to FPGA programming.
  • Knowledge of wireless technology, digital/analog communications, or RF.
  • Experience with Test Automation and Continuous Integration.

Travel

Quarterly travel (at least four times per year) to CONUS sites for 2–4 days per trip is required to perform scheduled maintenance on distributed systems.
