  • Creates and modifies a real-time executive and control software.
  • Develops and maintains data-centric services.
  • Migrates legacy systems to Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) using API-driven design principles and then maintains them.
  • Develops and maintains distributed simulation environment with protocols such as DIS, HLA or TENA.
  • Designs, creates, modifies, and maintains applications, development frameworks, and systems level software.
  • Modifies and writes device drivers (or updating middleware) for interfacing with hardware in a distributed software architecture.
  • Designs and develops manual and automated tests to ensure software quality contributing to existing Test suite.
  • Performs application design from research to testing phase with limited supervision using structured interfaces and applies object-oriented design principles such as polymorphism, encapsulation, and hierarchy.
  • Provides recommendations for improvements.
  • Provides guidance to less senior engineers in the department.
  • Evaluates hardware and software to be installed within a complex distributed training system of systems.

  • Experience required in transitioning legacy software to Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) utilizing API-driven design principles.
  • 5+ years of related software engineering experience required.
  • Experience with DDS or other Publish/Subscribe (Pub-Sub) messaging protocols preferred.
  • Experience with the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE), a secure, distributed simulation environment for large-scale virtual test and training, and the Global Reusable Interface Domain (GRID), a high-performance, low-latency message-passing framework for real-time communication between simulation components, preferred.
