Software Engineer - Planner Frameworks Pipeline

About the role

Zoox is seeking a skilled software engineer to join our team working on large-scale simulation pipelines that validate the behavior of our self-driving vehicles. These pipelines are data and GPU-intensive, built on Ray.io and Kubernetes, and play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our development processes.

Responsibilities

• Optimize production-grade APIs, SDKs, and tools to support various validations of autonomous behaviors.
• Improve ML training pipelines for autonomous behavior validation.
• Ensure the reliability and efficiency of simulation and validation pipelines, contributing to their architecture and growth.
• Work closely with autonomy engineers to understand and improve the end-to-end use case for these pipelines.
• Contribute to the development of the on-vehicle algorithms and models within the larger Autonomy organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 6+ years of industry experience.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems, focusing on cost and efficiency.
• Proficiency with Python and C++.
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud providers.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with machine learning workloads (training, inference, data generation).
• Background in algorithmic optimization or performance investigation.
• Experience with Ray.io, especially Ray Core and Ray Data.

Pay

$192,000 - $241,000 per year
