Software Engineer, Planner
Job Summary
Waymo is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on developing the core autonomous driving technology that powers Waymo's fully autonomous ride-hail service. Reporting to a Technical Lead Manager, you will work with a creative team to ensure the safety, smoothness, and predictability of our cars' behavior on the road. Your responsibilities include framing open-ended real-world problems into well-defined engineering problems, developing tools, algorithms, and evaluation mechanisms, scaling these solutions to Google-sized data pipelines, and refining them for real-time deployment on vehicles.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer science, machine learning, robotics, or a related field, with at least 5 years of general software engineering experience in C++. Experience in motion planning or related robotics problems, as well as experience with ML-based systems, is preferred.

Requirements
