Software Engineer Level 2 or 3
About the role
Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector is looking for a Software Engineer to join a special program that has a scalable and expeditionary intelligence ground station leveraging space, high altitude, aerial and terrestrial layer sensors to provide targetable data to commanders at all levels. The role involves working on an agile development team using modern development practices, tackling both new development and operational support. The Aurora campus hosts numerous programs across all phases of development and operational lifecycle, from smaller single scrum team efforts to larger multi-team efforts, some leveraging remote teams from other Northrop Grumman sites. Many programs use a micro-service event driven architecture with Docker Containers and Kubernetes. The organization is flexible and career growth focused, allowing staff to either deepen skills on one program or seek other internal opportunities to broaden skills, experiences, and mission exposure.
Responsibilities
- Develop software using object-oriented programming (Java) in an agile development environment
- Work with container management (Dockers and Docker-Compose) and networking with containers
- Use git including branching, merging, and resolving merge conflicts
- Employ Spring, Vue, GIT, Agile, Elasticsearch, and Maven
- Support both new development and operational maintenance
Qualifications
Level 2: Bachelor's degree in science with 2+ years of software development experience; 0+ years with a Master's; or 4 additional years of relative experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Level 3: Bachelor's degree in science with 5+ years of software development experience; 3+ years with a Master's; or 4 additional years of relative experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Required skills
- Current and active Top Secret/SCI security clearance required at time of application
- Experience designing, developing, and troubleshooting using object-oriented programming (Java)
- Experience with Container Management (Dockers and Docker-Compose) and networking with containers
- Comfortable using git, including branching, merging, and resolving merge conflicts
- Experience in Spring, Vue, GIT, Agile, Elasticsearch, and Maven
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Agile Methodology and Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Deployment (CD) Tools (Jenkins, Gitlab) and Practices
- Experience with software system integration, testing, and deployment, including but not limited to automation
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
- Quick learning, comfortable with learning new technical concepts and new libraries and APIs
Pay
Primary Level: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00
Secondary Level: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
