About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join its team supporting the MODES III program. This remote position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their skills in software development, integration, and testing within a secure cloud environment.

The successful candidate will work under the guidance of senior engineers to support the development and maintenance of web and CMS front ends, lightweight backend services, and dashboard data feeds in AWS GovCloud. This role involves supporting various phases of the software lifecycle, including implementation, testing, deployment, and incident response, ensuring secure and accessible solutions that meet government standards.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance is mandatory.
• Minimum of 2 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA), or 0 years with a Master’s degree (MS/MA), or 6 years without a degree, or 4 years with an Associate’s degree (AS/AA).
• Demonstrated capability within the Cyberspace IT workforce, satisfying Foundational Qualification standards via an approved industry certification such as A+ or Network+, or documented equivalent military/educational training as per DoD 8140 Qualification Matrix.
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, basic Python or Node.js, Git, and Jira.
• Active Secret clearance required; eligibility for Top Secret/SCI clearance is a plus.
• Preferred certifications include AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Security Specialty, and CompTIA Security+.
• Experience supporting large-scale government IT modernization programs is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the development, integration, testing, and maintenance of web and CMS front-end components, ensuring accessibility and compliance with Section 508/WCAG standards.
• Aid in implementing responsive, mobile-first designs for web applications.
• Contribute to API integration, data mapping for dashboards, and ETL/ingestion tasks within secure development and testing environments.
• Execute routine builds and deployments following CI/CD runbooks, ensuring smooth release cycles.
• Perform basic automated and manual testing to validate software functionality and performance.
• Support incident triage for non-critical outages, including log analysis, defect ticket creation, and escalation procedures.
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions in a timely manner.
• Maintain documentation related to development processes, configurations, and system changes.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
