Software Engineer III - Java/AWS
About the role
As a seasoned member of an agile team within the Liquidity Management Technology team at JPMorganChase, you will design and deliver trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You will carry out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas to support the firm's business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
- Create secure and high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
- Leverage enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contribute learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
- Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve value realized by automation.
- Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
- Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets to drive continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
- Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data and use these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture.
- Design, develop, and support scalable Java-based applications and microservices for liquidity management platforms and treasury-related capabilities.
- Collaborate with product, architecture, and engineering teams to deliver resilient cloud-enabled solutions and modern application architectures.
- Drive technical solutions that enhance application performance, reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience.
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages, including:
- Java
- Spring Boot
- Microservices
- REST APIs
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
- Experience designing scalable distributed systems and modern application architectures.
- Experience troubleshooting complex production issues and driving technical solutions from concept through implementation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies – React, Angular, or similar JavaScript frameworks.
- Exposure to AWS cloud technologies – EC2, EKS, RDS, S3, Lambda.
- Experience working with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software deployment practices.
