About the Role

Collins Aerospace is looking for a Software Engineer II with a passion for engineering and the desire to be part of an innovative, dedicated team responsible for industry-leading Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) products. Our team needs engineers interested in architecting, designing, and developing software for real-time embedded navigation and timing solutions for military ground, airborne, and maritime applications. This position offers abundant opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge of GPS/PNT systems architecture and to apply that knowledge in a team effort to develop our navigation products for the warfighter.

Our navigation solutions provide enhanced situational awareness and pinpoint accuracy for airborne and surface missions worldwide, allowing users of our equipment to complete their mission and return home safe.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software spanning all phases of the software engineering life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, code development, integration, verification, and documentation.
  • Develop software tools and support field demonstration efforts.
  • Provide customer support and mentor other engineers.
  • Work on embedded hardware/software applications in a real-time environment.

Requirements

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.

Preferred Skills

  • High motivation to solve problems and continuously improve existing products.

  • Solid understanding of software development processes for real-time embedded hardware/software applications.
  • Strong verbal and written technical communication skills.
  • Software requirements and architectural skills with functional decomposition.
  • Experience producing documentation required for security certification evaluation.
  • Experience with embedded hardware and real-time hardware systems.
  • Experience with Eclipse, Jira, and Jama.
  • Proficiency in C, C++, Ada, or other high-order languages in an embedded application environment.
  • Experience with hardware-centric products and Python test scripting.
  • Experience with Agile methodology of development.
  • Working knowledge of Communication Systems, Message Handling, Digital Signal Processing, or Kalman Filter Theory.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $75,800 - $144,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
