About the role

As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you will be at the forefront of technological innovation, working on ground-breaking systems that drive the manufacturing of semiconductors and displays. Your primary responsibilities will include designing, developing, and debugging software solutions for complex equipment components. You will work closely with internal teams and customers to understand project requirements, troubleshoot issues, and develop robust software documentation and test procedures. Your expertise will contribute to the development of control systems that manage real-time device operations such as robots, motors, sensors, and flow controllers. Additionally, you will be involved in creating algorithms for atomic-scale material deposition and removal, designing user interfaces, and implementing machine learning and data analytics functionalities. Responsibilities

• Design and develop code for complex software projects related to semiconductor equipment control systems
• Troubleshoot and resolve difficult software issues, including designing and implementing bug fixes
• Design and prototype user interfaces to ensure usability and functionality
• Create detailed software specifications and develop test plans for simulators, test benches, or laboratory environments
• Develop comprehensive software documentation to support ongoing maintenance and upgrades
• Interface with internal and external customers to gather requirements, troubleshoot software issues, and coordinate project schedules
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software solutions with hardware components
• Contribute to the development of algorithms for optimizing atomic-scale material processes
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement of software quality

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 1+ years of professional experience, or Bachelor’s Degree with 3+ years of professional experience
• Proficiency and professional experience in C and C++ programming languages
• Experience in Real-time Control, Motion Control, Embedded Programming, Multi-threading, CAN Bus, C#, .NET, Visual Studio, Matlab (desired)
• Strong problem-solving skills in complex situations
• Ability to analyze solutions using technical judgment and precedents
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and build consensus across teams
