About the Role

SimpliSafe is looking for a Software Engineer I to join our User Systems team. In this role, you will develop and maintain our cloud-based backend systems that power our native mobile applications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a cross-functional team of frontend & backend engineers, quality assurance, and product managers to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend systems owned by the User Systems team.
• Optimize backend systems for performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Ensure high-quality standards by participating in design & code reviews, writing and maintaining tests.
• Document the systems you are building to ensure they can be maintained by future developers.
• Serve in an on-call rotation as a first responder for software owned by your team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or a related field) and/or relevant work experience.
• Experience with at least one major programming language (JavaScript/TypeScript, Rust, Java, Go, Python, C#, etc.) and comfort working on a team that utilizes multiple languages.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban).
• Familiarity with DevOps principles.
• A sense of ownership and accountability.
• Passion for software development, continuous learning, and a growth mindset.

Pay

The target annual base pay range for this role is $75,100 to $100,100. This range represents our good-faith estimate based on a market-based compensation approach. Individual compensation packages are tailored considering job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and other relevant business factors.
