About the Role

Enlighten, a leader in big data solution development and deployment, is seeking a talented and experienced Software Engineer to join our team. As a Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and implement complex software capabilities for computer-based systems, working closely with other engineers to create solutions that meet our clients' needs. You'll have the opportunity to work with modern tools and technologies in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop Java-based software capabilities
• Integrate advanced AI agents (e.g., Claude Code, Google's Antigravity/Gemini) into daily engineering workflows
• Use autonomous agents for multi-file feature implementations, refactoring, and automated testing
• Guide AI agents through complex, multi-repository application architectures
• Audit agent-generated code for security, performance, and architectural alignment
• Work in a fast-paced, small business environment with a talented team
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in software development

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance (TS/SCI preferred)
• U.S. Citizenship required
• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering with Modern Java Frameworks (e.g., Spring, Guava) and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or 3 years with a Master's degree; or 9 years with a High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience with enterprise API design, RESTful web services, Microservices architecture, and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
• Familiarity with the agile software lifecycle and configuration management tools (e.g., Git, Nexus, Maven)
• Proficiency in Linux command line
• Ability to obtain IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE) within 60 days
• Willingness to work on-site at Fort Meade, MD 3-4 days a week

Skills

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines
• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) and distributed databases (e.g., Elasticsearch, MongoDB)
• Scripting experience is a plus
• Familiarity with Data Lakes/Warehouses (BDP, JCRS-D) and AGILE methodologies is advantageous

Pay

Anticipated Salary Range: $115,199.00 - $145,000.00

Schedule

Hybrid work approach with flexibility to work from home and on-site at Fort Meade, MD 3-4 days a week.
