Software Engineer
About the role
The Software Engineer role is a member of the Application Software Development team at MTS Systems. The team is responsible for the design, creation, test, and continual improvement of MTS application software focused on high performance simulation, analysis, data acquisition and motion control.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to define, design, develop and test robust software solutions that provide outstanding customer experience in a complex, object-oriented environment.
- Evaluate and translate high-level stakeholder requirements into detailed designs and robust implementation.
- Lead/participate in design reviews and provide input on best practices to support continuous improvement.
- Work in Agile/Scrum development processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
- Demonstrated technical expertise and proficiency in Windows desktop application development in C++.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver results while managing different priorities.
- Creative thinker and strong problem solver with an ability to work under minimum supervision.
- A strong sense of accountability, responsiveness and willingness to take ownership of issues and drive innovative solutions.
- Ability to work on a team and communicate effectively (verbal and written) in a cross-functional environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with COM/DCOM and Win32 API.
- Experience in Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery practices.
- Experience with Visual Studio, Azure DevOps and Git.
- Experience with Windows UI/UX development.
- Experience with Control Systems and Digital Signal Processing.
- Experience with digital communication protocols and third-party interfaces.
- Experience with hardware systems (data acquisition, controllers, interfaces etc).
- Experience in leveraging Generative AI tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, etc) in software development.

Compensation Information
$86,000 - $129,000 Annual Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications
