Software Engineer 1

About the role

The Software Engineer at Wyetech develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems based upon documented requirements. They work individually or as part of a team, reviewing and testing software components, resolving software problem reports, and providing input to the software components of system design.

Responsibilities

• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
• Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features
• Debug existing software and correct defects
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments
• Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories
• Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
• Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards
• Aid with developing and executing test procedures for software components
• Write or review software and system documentation
• Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design
• Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance
• Design, develop and manage RESTful APIs and backend services deployed on AWS (e.g., ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3)
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and security
• Collaborate with DevOps, frontend, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Maintain and monitor production systems using tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, or ELK
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability

Requirements

• TS/SCI clearance with agency appropriate polygraph
• Seven (7) years’ experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university
• Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree

Qualifications

• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining microservices using Spring Boot and Java
• Experience building and managing RESTful APIs and backend services deployed on AWS (e.g., ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3)
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Experience optimizing application performance, scalability, and security
• Experience collaborating with DevOps, frontend, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Experience monitoring and troubleshooting production systems using tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, or ELK
• Experience writing unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability
