About the role
The Office of Management Information Systems administers the computer-based management systems across the ODH enterprise. The office is responsible for maintaining ODH computer networks and servers and for the development and implementation of strategies that support the current and future technology needs of the agency. We are seeking a Software Development Specialist to develop and maintain software to support ODH’s automation testing framework and perform analysis and design.
Responsibilities
- Work with business personnel to identify and document system software requirements
- Perform post production support for business applications which may include routine maintenance, enhancements and the need to perform research to aid in troubleshooting software production errors
- Conduct manual and automated testing, implementation and assist with documentation
- Perform software implementation tasks, including source control and deployment activities
- Assist in the development and documentation of appropriate standards and criteria for acceptable programming and systems development lifecycle activities
- Lead meetings and discussions on technical topics in support of software development
Requirements
- 48 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: designing and performing systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, recommending application solutions and/or testing and correcting programs as it relates to testing and implementation and assisting with documentation including 12 months work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
- OR completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems AND 30 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: designing and performing systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, recommending application solutions and/or testing and correcting programs as it relates to testing and implementation and assisting with documentation including 12 months work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
- OR completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems AND 24 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: designing and performing systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, recommending application solutions and/or testing and correcting programs as it relates to testing and implementation and assisting with documentation including 12 months work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
- OR equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate or advanced degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
- Experience with software testing, quality control and/or quality assurance for web applications
- Experience using Azure DevOps Server to document project progress throughout the software development life cycle
- Experience with writing SQL queries using tools such as SQL Server Management Studio
- Experience in Agile methodology Tester role such as Agile Scrum
- Experience in Test Plans, designing, creating and running automated, manual or exploratory tests using tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio
- Experience with using JMeter to perform load testing/performance testing in one or more projects
- Experience with using Gherkin/Selenium for performing automated testing
- Experience writing code in C#
