Software Development Manager, Region Flexibility Engineering

About the role

As a software development manager on the Region Flexibility and Efficiency team, you will play an essential role in building the software services, frameworks, and components at the forefront of Amazon's service-oriented architecture. You will shape the direction of the team, leveraging state-of-the-art technologies to influence how thousands of engineers interact with our products. You will define the goals, strategy, roadmap, and success metrics for this new team.

Responsibilities

• Lead your team to solve complex software architecture problems with highly scalable solutions, guiding technology choices.
• Define the strategy, prioritization, and engineering roadmap for your team and influence decisions across Amazon.
• Directly influence product design and architectural direction while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent to build highly collaborative and functional teams.
• Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve developer experience for thousands of teams at Amazon.
• Manage products and programs, delivering results through a collaborative team you help build.
• Partner closely with senior leaders across Amazon to influence their programs and product roadmaps.
• Improve product operational metrics and drive operational excellence initiatives to enhance team productivity and job satisfaction.

About the team

The Region Flexibility Engineering organization supports the rapid global expansion of Amazon's infrastructure. Our products serve all Amazon businesses, including Worldwide Stores, Alexa, Kindle, and Prime Video. We drive adoption of evolving AWS and non-AWS technologies and collaborate with AWS teams to enhance public offerings. Our focus is on robust, scalable, and simple-to-use solutions delivered using engineering best practices. We build foundational infrastructure capabilities, tools, and datasets that enable Amazon teams to delight customers.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• 4+ years of engineering team management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live-site operations.

Pay

Base salary range: $184,900.00 - $250,200.00 USD annually (Seattle, WA). Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
