Software Development Engineer, Ring & Blink Software

Ring is looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer to join our growing Cloud Development Team. Ring has a mission to make neighborhoods safer. About the role

As a Software Development Engineer at Ring, you will be responsible for business-critical large-scale cloud services used by millions of Ring customers. This position offers the opportunity to work with world-class engineers and build cloud systems supporting millions of devices. You will develop new cloud services for innovative capabilities on Ring security devices and enhance the Ring infrastructure within the larger Amazon ecosystem. Your work will involve streaming video, event handling, large-scale deployments, high-performance computing, and solving distributed systems problems. This role includes design, architecture, development, and operations of large-scale cloud systems.

Ring's mission is to make neighborhoods safer by creating a Ring of Security around homes and communities with its suite of home security products and services. The Ring product line, along with the Ring Neighbors app, enables affordable, complete, proactive home and neighborhood security. For example, two Newark, NJ neighborhoods saw over a 50 percent decrease in home break-ins after Ring Video Doorbells and Spotlight Cams were installed on 11% of homes from April-July 2018 compared to the same period in 2017. Responsibilities

• Design and document distributed systems and microservices.
• Implement robust and maintainable code with clear and maintained documentation.
• Deliver customer value iteratively while working toward longer-term systems to achieve roadmap goals with increasing efficiency.
• Communicate status and changes to stakeholders, keeping them informed of updates to original plans.
• Implement test automation through unit and integration testing.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to bring Ring technology to market.
• Maintain and enhance software frameworks for development.

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ years of Object-Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Pay

Base salary range: $143,700.00 - $194,400.00 USD annually (North Reading, MA). Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
