Software Development Engineer II, Elevated Shopping

About the role

Join Amazon in building the next generation fashion shopping experience for billions of customers worldwide. You will design and deliver products that directly impact how customers discover, evaluate, and purchase clothing online. This role focuses on creating seamless user experiences across mobile web, mobile app, and desktop platforms, addressing challenges like product discovery, fit evaluation, and style assessment. You will collaborate with Product and UX design teams to solve diverse user requirements, including accessibility, internationalization, hardware constraints, and security risks.

Your work will involve instrumenting software with real user metrics to protect and enhance the customer experience, driving down latency, and innovating to make Amazon Fashion a daily destination for inspirational fashion. As a team member, you will influence functionality, architecture, algorithms, and culture while enjoying a low operational load and the freedom to explore personal ideas for significant customer impact.

Responsibilities

• Design and build user experiences for Amazon Fashion’s customer-facing surfaces (mobile web, mobile app, desktop).
• Collaborate with Product and UX design to address user requirements, including accessibility, internationalization, and security risks.
• Instrument software with real user metrics (e.g., taps/clicks, feature interaction, performance, fatals) to monitor and improve the customer experience.
• Drive innovation to reduce latency and enhance performance.
• Develop scalable, multi-tiered, and distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• Contribute to the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, testing, and operations.
• Explore and implement generative AI tools to enhance workflow efficiency and customer experiences.

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling).
• 1+ years of experience in software development engineering or a related occupation.
• 1+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ years of Object-Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, operations).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience using generative AI tools to enhance workflow efficiency, with a willingness to learn effective prompting and evaluation practices.
• Ability to identify opportunities where generative AI can improve products, workflows, or customer experiences.

Pay

Base salary range: $143,700 - $194,400 USD annually (Seattle, WA). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Additional compensation includes sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
