Software Development Engineer
About the role
The Software Development Engineer will join a dynamic team working on the Federal Aviation Administration’s En-Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) system. ERAM is crucial for air navigation, providing the foundational platform for all ATC systems. The role involves supporting new system capabilities and upgrades, and enabling improved air traffic flow.
Responsibilities
- Modernize the ATC system to enhance availability and performance.
- Maintain and optimize FAA air traffic control software (primarily Ada95/C++) on a UNIX/Linux platform.
- Perform software development tasks as needed for the ERAM system.
- Coordinate solutions with Systems Engineering and develop new capabilities.
- Leverage AI/ML concepts to improve software processes and capabilities.
Requirements
- Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree with 0-1 year of experience.
- Demonstrated software development skills/capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Flexibility in working across multiple software languages.
- Strong desire to learn and improve technical capabilities.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required.
Skills
- Hands-on experience with software engineering tasks (non-academic internships).
- Track record for completing complex software development assignments.
- Leadership skills and experience.
Benefits
Pay Range: $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
