About the role

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to design, develop, and support enterprise-scale Digital Asset Management (DAM) solutions centered around the Cloudinary platform. This role is responsible for building cloud-native integrations, automating image processing workflows, implementing AI-powered metadata solutions, and delivering scalable digital asset pipelines that support e-commerce operations.

Responsibilities

  • Cloudinary Platform Administration & Development
    • Design, configure, and maintain Cloudinary environments, including upload presets, transformation URLs, upload APIs, asset organization, and environment configuration.
    • Lead Cloudinary account migrations, ensuring assets, metadata, presets, and configurations are accurately transferred between environments.
    • Develop and optimize Cloudinary image transformation strategies for responsive image delivery, format conversion, quality optimization, and performance.
  • Digital Asset Management (DAM)
    • Design and implement DAM workflows supporting enterprise-scale image libraries.
    • Develop asset tagging, organization, metadata governance, and retrieval strategies.
  • API & Systems Integration
    • Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs integrating Cloudinary with enterprise systems.
    • Build cloud-native integration services connecting DAM platforms with internal applications and third-party systems.
  • Cloud & Serverless Development
    • Develop and maintain Azure Functions and AWS Lambda services supporting digital asset workflows.
    • Build scalable serverless applications for image processing, metadata generation, classification, and batch automation.
  • AI & Metadata Automation
    • Design AI-assisted metadata generation workflows, including automated alt text generation and image classification.
    • Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) into asset processing pipelines.
    • Develop prompt engineering strategies to improve AI-generated metadata quality and consistency.
    • Build bulk processing solutions utilizing Python and cloud APIs for large-scale metadata management.
    • Validate, normalize, and manage AI-generated metadata across enterprise asset libraries.
  • E-Commerce Asset Management
    • Develop asset management solutions supporting retail product catalogs.
    • Design SKU-based tagging and retrieval systems.
  • Production Support & Troubleshooting
    • Monitor production asset pipelines and cloud services.
    • Diagnose and resolve issues affecting serverless applications, APIs, and batch processing jobs.
  • Agile Development & Documentation
    • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
    • Manage work items through Jira.
    • Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, API specifications, and implementation guides.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with product owners, business stakeholders, merchandising teams, and engineering teams to deliver enterprise solutions.
    • Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of experience implementing or supporting enterprise Digital Asset Management platforms.
  • Experience designing scalable serverless cloud applications.
  • Strong background in enterprise systems integration.
  • Experience building AI-powered automation solutions.
  • Knowledge of retail or consumer products (CPG) catalog structures, including SKUs, product families, variants, and merchandising hierarchies.
  • Familiarity with image delivery networks and web performance optimization.
  • Experience supporting production cloud applications at enterprise scale.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Technical leadership and ownership.
  • Adaptability in rapidly evolving cloud and AI technologies.
  • Jira project and work-management tool experience.

Pay

$100K to $130K/year
