Software Development Engineer

About the role

Client: Randstad / Booz Allen Hamilton. Location: McLean, VA. Hybrid work arrangement (3 days/week onsite). This is an internal product development role within the Chief Technology Office engineering team at Booz Allen Hamilton, focusing on building the Software-Defined Everything (SDE) platform supporting Physical AI, Edge, Trusted Environments, and other mission‑focused applications. The role requires U.S. citizenship only and is a W2 contract.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, and operate scalable, production‑grade backend services.
• Build REST APIs, microservices, and distributed applications using Go/Golang.
• Develop and deploy services in AWS production environments.
• Architect secure, scalable, highly available backend applications.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, telemetry, canary deployments, and fault‑tolerant capabilities.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB.
• Develop clean, efficient, testable, maintainable, and secure code.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Integrate Generative AI and AI coding tools to accelerate development.
• Review and validate AI‑generated code for quality, security, and maintainability.
• Implement authentication, authorization, security, and compliance best practices.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Communicate architecture decisions and technical trade‑offs to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to technical innovation and modern engineering practices.

Requirements

• 15+ years of software development experience building and operating production‑grade applications in cloud environments.
• Strong hands‑on Go/Golang development experience (required).
• 5+ years of experience with Go/Golang, Java, Node.js, or C#, with strong preference for Go/Golang.
• 3+ years of experience developing backend services, REST APIs, and microservices.
• 3+ years of experience with distributed architectures, microservices, or serverless technologies.
• 3+ years of experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Hands‑on experience deploying applications/services to AWS production environments.
• Strong experience with RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of authentication, authorization, security, and secure software development practices.
• Experience with cloud‑native development and production systems.
• Experience with Generative AI / AI coding tools is highly desirable.
• U.S. citizenship only (no other visas).
