About the role
This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. The goal is to build sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
Responsibilities
- Work with various subsystem stakeholders to produce and manage the software architecture for the Blue Transporter spacecraft.
- Ensure mission success of the lunar vehicles' safety-critical, performant flight software.
- Engage with the leads and engineers of different subsystems, including both software and hardware.
- Guide the software team’s technical decisions using stakeholder input and provide rationale.
- Draft, review, revise, and publish documents outlining these decisions and providing a plan for implementing flight software.
- Collaborate with NASA and National Team Partners as part of the HLS Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program.
- Develop the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond Earth.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, aeronautics, or a related field with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree or a PhD degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Prior experience working in spaceflight or other safety-critical industries.
- Prior experience in embedded systems software engineering.
- Proficiency in writing requirements and using Jama or a similar tool.
- Experience with Jira or a similar activity management tool.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Prior experience using Generative AI tools for programming and process improvement (desired).
- Experience with NPR 7150, DO-178, or other similar standards (desired).
- Experience with the agile methodology (desired).
- Experience with C, C++, Rust, or other embedded programming languages (desired).
- Experience with cFS or other flight software frameworks (desired).
- Experience with orbital vehicles or in-space systems (desired).

Pay
Base Pay Range For CO applicants is $150,931.00 - $211,303.05 WA applicants is $164,652.00 - $230,512.80 Other Site Ranges May Differ
